PUBG latest rival FAU-G action game announced by Akshay Kumar

FAU-G Action Game: Bollywood Star Akshay Kumar unveiled a home-grown competitor named FAU-G two days after the government announced a decision to block PUBG MOBILE, a wildly popular online multiplayer shooting game along with over 100 Chinese apps amid renewed border tension.

Being published by nCore games based in Bengaluru that counts Indian gaming industry veteran Vishal Gondal as an investor, FAU-G Action Game is short for Fearless and United-Guards and has pledged to donate 20 percent of its revenue to the paramilitary forces government fund called Bharat Ke Veer set up after the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.

Mr. Kumar also charged the project as beautifully playing with the government’s push for self-reliance and indigenous enterprises launched in the wake of the coronavirus crisis called “Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

Congressman Milind Deora has also been promoting the venture.

Many on social media have noted the timing of the announcement coming close to the heels of the government’s ban on PUBG MOBILE, developed by the Chinese gaming and social media group Tencent which was ranked among the top five smartphone games in the world with over 700 million downloads.

Although existing users may still play the game on their devices, it has disappeared from most mobile marketplaces. There are nearly 50 million active PUBG players in India and the game clocks in some 13 million daily users according to reports.

Tencent said earlier on Thursday, in response to the ban triggered by fresh Chinese provocation in Ladakh and posed as one in the interests of India’s sovereignty and independence, safety, and stability, it takes the protection of user privacy and data seriously. The company said it would engage with the Indian authorities to ensure that its applications in India continue to be available.
