IT Minister launched the National AI Portal of India – AI Mission for Industries and Schools

AI portal of india: Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad launched India’s national Artificial Intelligence Portal on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Government’s second tenure.

PM Modi recently launched ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Package‘ for making a Self-reliant India. The new portal is aimed to support the Prime Minister’s initiative.

AI portal of India –

The portal www.ai.gov.in or www.indiaai.in has been jointly developed by the Ministry of Electronics and IT, and IT Industry. The Ministry of Electronics and IT’s National E-Governance Division, and the IT industry’s NASSCOM will jointly run this portal.

The portal serves as a knowledge hub for all those interested and engaged in this domain.

According to the government, the portal will act as a one-stop digital forum for AI-related innovations in India, exchanging resources such as articles, startups, AI investment funds, resources, companies, and AI-related educational institutions in India.

The platform will also exchange articles, case studies, research papers, etc. . It also has a section on learning and new AI-related work roles in India.

In addition, the government launched a national youth programme called ‘Responsible AI for Youth.’

AI Mission for Industries –

The purpose of this program is to provide a platform for the country’s young students and empower them with appropriate new-age tech mindset, relevant AI skill-sets. The programme also aims to provide access to the required AI tool-sets to make them digitally ready for the future.

The programme was created and launched by the National E-Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics and IT, in collaboration with Intel India, with help from the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

DoSE&L will reach out to State Education Departments to nominate teachers according to the eligibility criteria.

According to the government, ‘Responsible AI for Youth’ will empower the youth to become ready for AI and help reduce the skill gap, while allowing young people to create meaningful solutions for social impact.

The program is designed to reach out to students from government schools across India and provide them with an equal opportunity to become an integral part of the professional workforce.

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “India must be a leading country in the development of Artificial Intelligence in the world, leveraging upon its vast Internet-savvy population and data it is creating.” He said, “India’s AI approach should be of inclusion and empowerment of human beings by supplementing growth and development rather than making human beings less relevant.”

The ‘Responsible AI for Youth’ curriculum will be available to students from Central and State government-run schools throughout the country between classes 8 and 12. The curriculum will be introduced in phases that will train the chosen teachers and students in AI that will include residential boot camps or online sessions.

Students will also be guided to create prototypes from their ideas by Intel certified AI coaches and mentors and these will be showcased at relevant platforms.
